Ensuring Fire Safety for the Grand Paris Express Construction with WES3

The Grand Paris Express is Europe’s largest metro expansion, adding 200 km of automated lines and 68 stations to improve connectivity and reduce congestion. As a critical infrastructure project, ensuring fire safety across multiple construction sites is paramount. Ramtech, in partnership with major contractors, provides WES3, a wireless fire safety solution that meets stringent industry standards.

Challenge

Ensuring fire safety and managing emergency alerts across 200 km of metro lines presented a complex challenge. The project involved extensive underground tunneling and high-risk construction sites, requiring a robust fire protection system that could adapt to evolving site conditions. Additionally, coordinating multiple contractors while adhering to strict regulatory requirements added another layer of complexity. Fire safety solutions needed to be both effective and minimally disruptive to ongoing operations.

Solution

To address these challenges, Ramtech deployed WES3, a state-of-the-art wireless fire detection and alert system. The system provided comprehensive fire safety coverage across tunnels, galleries, and site offices, ensuring that every part of the construction site was protected. Real-time monitoring was made possible through WES REACT Cloud, allowing instant alerts and efficient response coordination. The solution complied with APSAD fire safety regulations and was certified to the NF S61-970 standard, ensuring it met both French and European fire safety requirements.

Outcome

With the implementation of WES3, fire safety compliance across the Grand Paris Express project was significantly enhanced. The flexible and scalable nature of the system allowed it to adapt to changing site conditions, providing reliable protection without disrupting construction activities. The rapid and non-invasive installation process minimized downtime, while the long-term cost efficiency of the system ensured it could be reused for future infrastructure projects.
