Delivering fire protection at a Formula 1 event demands precision, compliance and absolute reliability. During the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix, Ramtech provided an EN54-25 certified temporary fire alarm system to safeguard purpose-built structures at the world-renowned Hungarian Grand Prix, held at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród, Pest County. As the thirteenth round of the 2024 Formula One World Championship and the 39th running at the Hungaroring, the event attracted global teams, media and spectators. With ongoing redevelopment works scheduled for completion in 2025, several operational areas relied on temporary buildings that required fully compliant fire detection and evacuation capability.
The Fire Safety Challenge: Protecting Temporary Structures at a Live Motorsport Event
Major sporting events such as Formula 1 operate under intense international scrutiny. Safety systems must not only meet regulatory standards but also integrate seamlessly with permanent infrastructure while supporting uninterrupted operations.
For the 2024 race weekend, temporary containerised facilities were installed to accommodate media spaces, bathrooms, dressing rooms and conference areas. These structures did not have permanent fire alarm systems in place due to ongoing building reconstructions.
The project required a wireless fire alarm system that could be rapidly deployed, certified to recognised European standards, and capable of integration with the existing site fire strategy. The solution also needed to be easily removable following the event, without compromising compliance during live use.
Supporting fire safety at the Hungarian Grand Prix demonstrates how certified wireless systems can deliver compliant protection in complex, high-pressure environments. For temporary event structures without permanent detection, an EN54-25 certified temporary fire alarm system provides both regulatory assurance and operational flexibility.

EN54-25 Certified Wireless Protection with WES3
Working in partnership with Hungarian specialist High Security Kft, Ramtech deployed its WES3 wireless fire and evacuation system across four container groups within the paddock area. WES3 is certified to EN54-25, the European standard governing radio-based fire alarm components. This certification provides third-party assurance of performance, signal integrity and reliability, which is critical for temporary fire alarm systems used in high-profile environments.
Fire alarm call points and smoke detectors were strategically installed across the temporary structures, creating a robust detection and evacuation network. A key feature of WES3 is its resilient radio mesh architecture, allowing each device to communicate intelligently across the network without interfering with existing systems.
To ensure unified site protection, the WES interface was used to connect the temporary wireless system to the permanent fire alarm infrastructure at the Hungaroring. This provided continuous monitoring and immediate response capability, maintaining a coherent fire safety strategy across both temporary and permanent facilities.
Sylvain Castaignau, Business Development Manager France at Ramtech:
“Supporting fire safety at the Hungarian Grand Prix demonstrates how certified wireless systems can deliver compliant protection in complex, high-pressure environments. For temporary event structures without permanent detection, an EN54-25 certified temporary fire alarm system provides both regulatory assurance and operational flexibility. The system was installed efficiently, integrated with the existing infrastructure and removed post-event without disruption.”
This project highlights the importance of combining certified technology with experienced deployment partners. The collaboration between Ramtech and High Security Kft ensured local regulatory understanding, seamless installation and dependable system performance throughout the race weekend.
Compliance, Performance and Event Assurance
During the 19 to 21 July race weekend, 20 drivers competed in the 70-lap event as part of the 2024 Formula One World Championship. Throughout this period, the temporary fire detection system delivered uninterrupted coverage for personnel and equipment across the containerised facilities.
In the event of activation, the system was configured to initiate audible evacuation alerts and support immediate response coordination. Integration with the permanent system strengthened site-wide monitoring, reinforcing life safety management across the venue.
The deployment demonstrates how EN54-25 certified wireless fire detection can provide scalable, compliant and removable fire protection for international sporting events, construction-led redevelopments and high-risk temporary environments.
Delivering Trusted Temporary Fire Alarm Systems for Global Events
Temporary structures at major events present unique fire risks. Whether supporting live sports, exhibitions, redevelopment works or international broadcasts, fire protection must match the prestige and complexity of the environment. At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Ramtech’s wireless fire alarm technology provided a certified, event-ready solution that ensured compliance, operational continuity and peace of mind on a global stage. For organisations requiring EN54-certified temporary fire alarm systems for events, construction projects or transitional phases, expert design and proven wireless performance remain critical to safeguarding people, infrastructure and reputation.
